Funding for London officials

Officials Sports London offer funding to prospective officials

Official Sports London is an exciting bursary opportunity funded by the London Development Agency and Sport England. The Official Sports London bursary supports Londoners aged 16+ to achieve recognised officiating qualifications and volunteer or work as officials in their favourite sport. It aims to increase the number, diversity and skills base of sport's technical officials across a range of different sports in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Official Sports London bursary can cover up to 80% of the costs of completing one of the eligible officiating courses and 15 hours of voluntary officiating within your chosen sport. These costs can include course costs, membership or licence fees, equipment and uniform costs, child and adult care costs and travel expenses. Disability support packages are also available. The bursary is available to those that are completely new to officiating, as well as those with existing qualifications and experience.

Following an extremely successful pilot year, Official Sports London is back for its second year with a brand new website. Last year 254 bursaries awarded to people across the capital, to help them achieve officiating qualifications across 17 different sports. Year 2 of Official Sports London is now open for applications.
